01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Aromatic griddled specialties take center stage at Takami, anchored by Kyoto's distinctive beta-yaki okonomiyaki. The oyster modan-yaki is a prime example, delivering a crisp, caramelized exterior alongside the satisfying chew of thick soba noodles. Diners can also tailor dishes to their preference, such as requesting an egg served raw in the tsukimi style.
True to the teppanyaki sign out front, the menu reaches well beyond okonomiyaki. The grill turns out dishes like chicken gizzards, mountain yam steak, tofu steak, butter-seared oysters, buttered corn, and potato with cheese, complemented by smaller plates including grilled garlic and cucumber kimchi. With beer and other drinks available, it lends itself naturally to grazing through small bites over a quiet drink.
Takami operates from Wednesday through Sunday from 17:00 to 22:30, closing on Mondays and Tuesdays. The calm environment welcomes solo diners with ease. Reservations and takeout are accepted, and please note that payment is cash only.
